The flood that engulfed Beni Bazar on Saturday has incurred financial loss of around Rs 15 million. More than 100 shops are gushed into murky water due to the torrential rain-triggered flood, according to the District Police Office, Beni. The flood gushed into the town from Arthunge rivulet above the human settlement in Beni Bazaar and affected more than 120 households. The heap of mud disposed during the upgradation of Beni-Pakhapani road has been swept away and piled at Champus Chowk in Beni, is being removed to clear the waterlogged Beni Bazar, according to Thakur Prasad Sharma, Secretary of the Campus Chowk Sewage Construction Consumer Committee. Secretary Sharma said that it might take three days to clear off the mud. Earlier in 2006, 2012 and 2015, flood had engulfed Beni Bazar, causing a huge loss of properties. RSS
